What in the world is up with our name? We don't know, but here is what I found however... Life, a complex concept with varied shades of meaning. It may denote physical or natural life, whether animal or human. It is the vital principle, or breath of life, which God imparted to man, making him a living soul. This life is a precious gift and the taking of life is prohibited. It is propogated to physical generation and is subject to death. It may signify the period of ones earthly existence, one's lifetime, activities, experiences, or the relationships which make up ones life. Occasionaly it means ones manner of life or the means for sustaining life. But the primary concern of the Scriptures is spiritual or eternal life for man. It is the gift of God, mediated through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not synonymous with endless existence, which is also true of the unsaved. It is qualitative, involving the impartation of a new nature. It is communicating to the believer in this life, resulting in fellowship with God in Christ, and is not interupted by physical death. It will find its perfection and full reality of blessedness with God in the life to come. As "the living God" the eternal and self existant One, God has absolute life in Himself and is the source of all Life. | ![]() | ![]() |
